How God Works

My son, Nathaniel, was on his way to Michigan last week. He first had to take a train into Chicago, where he had to wait awhile. He wandered through the city looking for a specific office building. As in any large city, there were countless numbers of homeless people roaming the streets. My son has a heart of gold and as he waited for the city bus, to take him back to the train station, he pulled out his wallet each time someone approached him and handed the person a dollar bill. At last, it was nearly time for the bus when Nathaniel opened his wallet to discover he had given away his last dollar bill. "It was empty, mom", he recalled to me. A very well dressed man approached my son and they chatted a few minutes. The man, a celebrity (singer) as it ended up, was telling him about the show he just did and was sharing his story about it when Nathaniel asked him, "Do you know if the bus takes a debit card?" The man opened his wallet and handed him $4. He tried to refuse and the man insisted. My son even asked if there was a way he could pay him back, later. He told Nathaniel (and I wish I remembered the exact words repeated to me) that he had been so kind to others, helping the homeless and that God arranged for him to be there with him at just the right time. I wonder how long the man had watched him. It is amazing how God watches out for His own. I doubt this man will ever see this, but May God Bless him, in better ways~
